I never imagined last night when I asked you to run over to my son's blog and check him out that so many of you would do it, and follow him. You should have seen him this morning. The first thing he said was "Mom, I've got lots more followers now! And there are comments!" He was ecstatic.
I think that I may allow him to use one of the netbooks we have lying about the house. It will make it much easier for him to write and to respond on his blog. I took his computer from him almost two years ago. Having autism also means zeroing in on things and being unable to get off of that track. We thought it best to take the laptop.
I think though that I'll give him a trial period on the netbook and lock it down the best I can and see what happens. I signed onto his site a minute ago and he has quite a few unmoderated comments. He said that he was trying to respond to everyone but his fingers got tired. BURN for mom! I'll get him rocking with the netbook tomorrow.
You guys are awesome! Thank you so very much for making this boy's day! He really doesn't have much in his life to get excited about. He's different and he's smart enough to know that his autism causes him all sorts of awkward situations. He knows that kids have a hard time with him and he knows that adults do as well. You all made a child extremely happy today. Thank you again!
I got a Mac today and am having a terrible time trying to figure the thing out! Maybe I shouldn't have had all that wine before hand?

It has to be settled, we're moving closer so we can hang out at these middle of the night (morning?) hours!
Oh, your son's poetry is beautiful! It's almost better when there is more disability, such that the awareness of difference isn't there. My own son has been diagnosed with bipolar though he's almost exclusively manic, and his own difficulties hurt my heart. So I'm happy to do what I can for your son ... :)

I think most of us start blogging in part to connect to others and find that there is a lot of support too. I, for one, am happy to support him. The more positive reinforcement he receives, the more he will excel. And, btw, he actually writes great poetry.
You might just 'check-out' a computer for Joshua to use when he needs it and then monitor his progress for frustration. If he starts to obsess on something, then just like I DO FOR MYSELF, just take away the computer and do something else for a bit. You can loan back the computer when he is ready to work again. I know you have precious little time but maybe if that works, the kid will quickly learn, that he needs to de-stress sometimes and just get up and walk away. Anyway - just a thought. W.C.C.

It maybe too late for me to check on his blog. I was on a vacation but I would love to do it now. I was so impressed with the child! It's a nice motivation :)

I have been following your son's blog for a couple weeks now, ever since I first saw it mentioned elsewhere in your blog. I too have a "high-functioning" autistic son (Aspergers Syndrome) who is 17. He was only recently diagnosed because my own issues with Bipolar Disorder caused the doctors to assume this was his issue as well. They have since decided otherwise. Unfortunately this means that he is way behind on making progress. It is encouraging to see how your son has come to grips with his disabilities and found an outlet to express himself!
Thanks for pointing us in his direction. He is very talented.

I had a Mac once-a Big Mac! I hear they work really well as door stops! And if I knew anything about them, I would gladly help you!
