Don't Ever, I Mean Ever.....

Wednesday, September 22, 2010

I learned a few things today, a few things not to do on a motorcycle trip. Thought I'd share them with you just in case.

  • Don't ever pass up the opportunity for a Moon Pie.
  • Don't ever engage someone that really believes that they are the world's best psychologist AND is solely responsible for saving Alaska in conversation at a rest area. Guy scared the shit out of me!
  • Don't EVER follow a cattle truck. Besides smelling terrible, stuff falls out.
  • Don't fail to wave to other bikers. You may run into them in a small town Mexican restaurant after they've had six pitchers of margaritas.
  • This one is the most important. NEVER forget you have a full face helmet on with the face shield down and spit. Oh yeah, that would be me.
Now a few of the days pics and a short video that I really want you to see. Please watch it you can be the difference.

Oh, and forgive me for not responding to your comments quickly this week. Being on the road makes it a little difficult. But thank you all. You rock!

Good tips. I will remember them should I ever find myself on a motorcycle.

Great video.

What do you mean if you ever find yourself on a motorcycle? Girlfriend one of these days I'm picking your ass up!

OMG!! What a GREAT rule list with a WHOLE LOT MORE story behind it... I'm SURE! LOL!!

I've been having problems with many videos online lately. We've been trying to determine whether it's my computer, our network, or service provider causing it. Some I can get to play, others just load endlessly and never PLAY... *sigh* I wasn't able to get this one to play. Is it about seeing motorcyclist so you don't KILL them when changing lanes and such?? I will always watch extra careful... Especially if one is wearing leather and has blonde hair flying out the back of her helmet. Don't you worry... I'm a defensive driver; so when you swerve due to that spit on your helmet shield, I'll get out of your way... ;p BWAHAHAHA!

HEY!! The video finally played! YAY!! I'm LOOKING! I'm LOOKING!! ;D

HEY!! I think I'll feature this clip on my Awareness Wednesday next week! ;D

Thanks for the reminders. And yes, following a cattle truck is "interesting." Likewise, a truck full of pigs.

And the video was thought-provoking. I've got a friend or two who are bikers; this all makes great sense.

Hope the trip goes well, Teri.

This video should be a mandatory video for everyone who gets behind the wheel.

I like your tips. Especially the shit happens - particularly following a cattle truck!

That video is very powerful!

You don't tug on Superman's cape...

Great video.

The spitting thing makes perfect sense. If I weren't so scared of motorcycles, I'd definitely take that advice.

Babes Mami September 23, 2010 at 10:13 AM

Fabulous video, my dad is a biker and I know all about the dos and don'ts that he has taught me. He was run off the road into a tree when I was younger. Broken ribs, punctured lung and lots of scrapes and bruises!

Also - keep your mouth CLOSED while riding, lest you eat the bugs.

JackBader September 23, 2010 at 12:28 PM

I dont have a problem with spitting, but I hate when I have to sneeze and there is nothing you can do about it, I just need to hose down my helmet every so often.

Besides the all the sneezing, spitting, road grease and other debris, when its 100 degrees in the summer the helmet can get quite rank.

Powerful video... I ride everyday, and have more near misses then I care to remember and not one was even remotely my fault.

Wow, great video!

Thanks for making me think.

I like the pics, and I can relate to the video, I had a truck pull out right in front of me in the rain yesterday, almost bought the farm. They looked at me, then pulled out right in my path.

(Don't be jealous, but I have a VESPA!!)
