Thoughts, Thanks and Terror

Saturday, August 7, 2010

Maybe that should have been titled Thoughts, terror and thanks. Oh well, tonight it's done and I'm just not going to change it.

Thoughts:

  • I have a sore throat and it's really pissing me off.
  • Can twizzlers and wine be considered dinner? Or is that just plain trashy?
  • How young is too young to pack your kid's bags, put them on the porch and change the locks?
  • I must be a really bad mom to even think that.
  • Who cares? I thought it.
  • I'm glad Christy is public again.
  • Wine's gone but I'm still eating twizzlers.
  • I'm extremely PISSED that the police can't find the scumbag that hurt my grandson, serve the search warrant and arrest the pig.
  • I hope the HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL COACH that left my son on the road for dead after he ran him over with his crappy Rav4 gets the max sentence! Trial is the 24th
Terror:
  • Leaving tomorrow on the harleys for Spokane. Ever since that "lady" ran me over I always have this fear that whatever ride I take will be my last ride.
  • That the mid-terms will suck. I don't see that happening, but I didn't see 08 happening either.
  • That my grandson has to testify.
  • That my grandson has to go through life scarred.
  • Do you usually write your posts in Word or directly in blogger?
 Thanks:
  •  Snowbrush because I just love him, that's why. I think he gets me and even though I've never met him he holds a dear place in my heart.
  • Gucci Mama because she requested something and made me feel young and beautiful.
  • Sage because he keeps it real and me informed.
  • The Queen of WTF? because she makes me laugh.
  • Holly because she gave me this cool award. Thank you Holly!

The Steel Magnolia Award
The name of this is pretty obvious. The recipients of this award are pretty tough, looking bad situations in the face, and staring it down.

1) Let us know who gave you the award.
It was Holly  :) Thank you Holly. I guess you've read my life pretty well. Sometimes though, just sometimes I feel the steel cracking.

2) Display the award on your blog.

3) Which character of the movie Steel Magnolias are you most like and why. (If you haven't seen the movie, you've been sorely deprived of one of the greatest women's flicks of all time.)
It's been so long since I've seen it, but I guess I'd have to pick Shirley Maclaine just because she's an awesome actress even though she's a bit on the weird side and WAY older than me! Just so that's clear!

4) Nominate anyone. I don't care how many, for the award. Remember to comment on their blog to let them know that you've passed this award on to them.

On this one I'm only going to nominate one person. That is going to be my daughter, Karli. She's been through some of the most unimaginable situations in her short 28 years: Stalker, rape, her son died, her best friend and confident was killed, two babies born three months early. They spent three months each in the NICU. And she's had no less than 15 abdominal surgeries in the last five years, she at her lifetime maximum on CT scans and the ER knows her by name.  I would tell you more but since there is an active investigation going on I can't. And she has to have me as her mother, and I'm crazy according to some.

I have to apologize for this being not as upbeat as usual, but there are so many things swirling in my life right now, I'm having a difficult time at the moment, it's only for a moment. Tomorrow will be better.

A Bit of This, A Bit of That Ends Up Being My Life..

Friday, July 9, 2010

Ok, so can you hear me screaming right now? I think my brothers in Texas can and I know that The Brat can. She always knows what I'm thinking before I think it. As a matter of fact she's been my best friend for EVER and I've only known her a year. We're pretty much the same person. Well, except for she's Mexican and a lot younger and I'm a cracker, according to the Little Black Kitties (New Black Panthers), and could almost be her mom!

I'm having a heck of a time with Blogger tonight! I can't comment, I can't load some pages and I can't get my signature to work. It won't let me post anything above it. So in a fit of Right Wing Extremism, Bipolarism, cracker-ism and what ever -ism people like to say causes my very justified, in my mind, fits I deleted the freaking thing!

This is a little bit of an "take care of some business" post instead of a "OMG! She's so incredibly talented, funny and brilliant" post.

I'll begin with some labs that came back....White count is UP! Yea me! A few other counts are weird but the white count being up is a MAJOR victory. At least now I'm not as risk of dying in my sleep from some rare "severe infection, " well this week anyway. I may be at risk of dying from banging my head on the travertine floors from the frustration of getting used to a Mac after being a PC (and that does NOT stand for politically correct) girl all my life.

My thoughts right now are bouncing. I'm in my awesome bed trying to unwind and relax and I'm hearing screaming, howling, fighting, about to die children in the other room. I really need that duct tape. I don't think that Liquid BandAid will work on continuously moving, frothing mouths. Or maybe I really do need to be on the look out for a chupacabra!

Sorry, I had to leave for a second and threaten the children with a slow and painful death. But the only thing I could find was a spray bottle of 50 sunscreen. Not thinking that would work, but I it made an impression, they're quiet now. Maybe it was the raving, lunatic of a mom coming out of my room with a can of sunscreen threatening to spray them to death and enjoy it every minute of it.

Anyway I got this awesome award from Momma May Be Mad. It's "A Blog With Substance" award. I'm very honored to think that anyone would bestow that one me. My first thought was "how does she know I just took an ambien and valium?"

I'm not even going to tell you how long it took me to copy the award and THEN find where it was saved on my computer. I am determined though to conquer the Mac!

Thank you Kerry, you rock. All my peeps, especially my bipolar peeps, should swing by and check her out.

I'm to give five words that are my motivation, philosophy, or experience with, about, my blog. The words of tonight are : Ambien, thankfulness, kids, friends and exhibition-ism. There's another of those "-ism" words.

Next just a few pics. A few of you asked for a couple of stills of the river and/or my backpiece. I'll see what I can do for ya.

Ok, guess what? I can't freaking figure out how to upload a picture from this computer yet. It's trying to upload my ENTIRE iPhoto library and while I love you all dearly, I'm just not going to post ALL of my pics!

Ok, Mac buds, I know you're out there, I need some help here in uploading pictures to my blog.

I better close this post now before I continue to ramble for the remainder of the evening and hours into tomorrow.

A Couple of Things Made Me Feel Better Today

Wednesday, June 2, 2010

I'm thinking that most of my Tweeps knew the day just wasn't going well for me when they read my first Tweet:

"I hate people"

Well, I didn't mean all people, just a small, well today a large, percentage of them. But then again maybe it was idiot's day out in Happy Valley.

My next one was

"Eh.....I'm going back to bed."

It's no secret that I've been having lots of tests done. I feel like crap most of the time. Today was a day that I just wasn't wanting to deal with it.

Then came:

"I'm killing my FREAKING dogs! Don't they know I need a nap?!"

I was going over the classified ad the entire time I had pillows pulled over my ears. "Cute Corgi, housebroken, GREAT WATCHDOG! Free, hell I'll pay you to come get her."

So much for sleep. I decided to check my blog and I had two blog awards!

The first is from JessRaquel. Run over and check her out. I just love her!

The next is from Mother of Pearl It Is. I just found her blog and I love it!

Then Mama Still Wears Gucci made me laugh for the first time today with her witty responses to the hate mail she's received.

Next I want to pass on an award to Free 2B Mommy. It's an award that I got from Scandal in The Choir Loft. The words of wisdom passed along with the award were to "choose people that wouldn't mind posting this on their blog."

So while there are SO many that I'd love to pass this on to, I'm not sure they would be comfortable with it. If you are, you know who you are, come and get it!

Coffee with a friend in the morning followed by yet another doctor appointment. I really hope that she knows something this time. I lost three more pounds since the last time I weighed. While I'd usually be ecstatic, I'm beginning to worry. I need answers!

After that shopping with my girls. Tomorrow should be much, much better. If it's not, I'm seriously considering kidnapping a couple of my new friends and spending time on the beach!

Is This What's Called Fragmented Friday?

Friday, May 28, 2010

Maybe I should grab the button from Unknown Mami, I love her by the way.

Not really a post, or is it?

I was asked to submit a guest post (my first one!) by Pam, at I Forgot What I was Doing. You can find it here if you wanna swing by.

Then I received another cool, well, hot award:

This one reminds me of my secret MySpace page.

It's from Scandal In The Choir Loft. She's got one hot blog going on!

Next I was going to list several of the wonderful bloggers that I have absolutely fallen in love with. But, I just don't have time to do that right now since Josiah is coming in my room every 2 minutes for me to take him for sushi. I guess that's going to have to wait for another time.

Ok, where are my shoes?

Ok, I'm Cool, Well Two People Think So Anyway!

Wednesday, May 26, 2010

Wow what a day! Not only did I take a BIG chance and post about one of my most painful short comings as a mom (and no one stopped following me because of it) I was also awarded the Versatile Blogging award from two of my awesome friends! I wonder if there's also an award for really horrific run-on sentences?

Donda over at My Husband Misunderstood When I Said I Was Bi ( haha....I love that title) and Coffee Slut (oh how I can relate) both awarded me with this on the same day!

Ok, so here's the catch. I have to list seven things about myself, give this to 15 (yikes) other bloggers that I've recently discovered that I think are fantastic. I'm not so sure I can hold up the end of the deal, all of the blogs I follow are fan-freaking-fantistic or I wouldn't be following them.

As for the seven things about me, I think I'll link to some of my older posts that may give you a little more light on who I am since you all know just about everything about me now.

Here's a couple of things I'll list though:

I use the word "that" way too much.
I seem to have an infatuation with run-on sentences.

Ok, here's a few links. Beware, some of them are a little more difficult to read than others.

Happy Valley Moms (Am I a Stepford Wife Too?)

Calm (Ok, bad day here)

My Name is Teri and I am a Food Elitist (Totally being a food snob)

Unorthodox (This happens no more)

Sea Turtles ( I still feel this way at times)

Some of these were written in a few of my darkest days several years ago. Things have changed, I'm fine now and these are no longer a concern. Somehow though it's cathartic to be able to express in words the feelings running through my mind.

Beautiful Blogger....Woooo Hoooo!

Sunday, May 23, 2010

Many thanks to Cheryl over at Little Bit Quirky for this wonderful award! Please, if you haven't found her site yet go check her out.

Now  I am to share ten things about myself (or should it be me?) with you. I think that will be a challenge since just about everything about me can be found somewhere on my blog, I'm not known for holding much back. Here we go!

1. Here's one I haven't yet spilled on here.
Last boyfriend before husband was at the time the Secetary of State in Nuevo Leon, Mexico. He's now a high ranking national government offical. At the time I didn't know a) he was taking kick backs for protecting El Cartel de Golfo (a major Mexican drug cartel). b) he was married.
2. Along the same lines, I once drove alone through Mexico and just happened to be stopped by the Mexican Army. They had no idea that the "Blonde American" knew exactly what smack they were talking. I pulled out boyfriend's card for them to examine. Suddenly there was a change of heart and I was escorted for the remainder of the drive into Monterrey.
3. When I was two I was in the newspaper for knowing all of the countries on the globe. Caveat was that it was a very small town paper and obviously a slow news day.
4. While most kids grew up with boats and motorcycles in their garages I grew up with airplanes and helicopters in mine.
5. Those lip prints on my motorcycle tank are mine. I kissed it with lipstick and the painter clear coated over them. Guess I can never sell it now. Who's gonna want my lip prints on their bike?
6. I really want to go to Greece.
7. I may have leukemia.
8. I'll get almost anything for my grandkids while telling my kids "you have legs."
9. I hold my kids' feet to the fire and make them actually take responsibility for their actions.
10. The best year and worst year of my life was the year between my mom being killed and my dad dying.

Thank you again Cheryl!

Let The Sun Shine, and Bozo?

Sunday, May 16, 2010

My friend over at Walking Butterfly just gave me this cool award! Being the doof that I am I can't quite figure out yet how to link the picture back to her. But run over and check her out!

As for the Bozo part. I'm having a difficult time waiting until tomorrow morning to call the charge nurse, the head of the nursing department and the head of patient relations at the hospital that my son was released from today.

We're all sitting in the room waiting for him to be released and the nurse walks in and says "Be sure to bring those crutches back for the next Bozo that comes in."

I looked at her and said "Bozo? You're callling my son Bozo?"

"Yes he's a Bozo. He's been in here three times in three years. Once to have a nail removed from his hand. He was here last fall to have his leg re-built after the car accident, and now he's broken it again and had more surgery. He's a Bozo."

I'm looking at the bed now knowing that if I look at her my death ray vision will activate. I take a deep breath and ask again "Bozo?"

She must have seen the the holes being seared into the bed and the red glow emanating from my eyes and she changed her tone a smidge.

"I apologize, I mean high risk patient."

Ok, number one accident: bumped while working, nail gun slipped, shot him in the thumb.

Number two accident: Walking home after drinking too much at a tavern, is on the shoulder of the road and is hit by a high school coach that had just left a bar and was driving and then left my son on the side of the road and fled the scene.

Number three accident: fell while hiking due to weakened leg because of accident number two.

Should he have been hiking? The surgeon released him for normal activity. The mom in me wants let him have it for that, but hey, the surgeon did release him.

The anger in me began to rise. My husband and son must have seen it coming. Jeff puts his hand on my shoulder holding me in the chair. Cole firmly said "Mom!" The nurse left the room. I took a deep breath knowing that tomorrow, Monday, will come. Phone calls will be made and hopefully she'll realize that "Bozo" is a comment best left for a parent to make.

BTW, my daughter has had 16 surgeries in five years. I wonder what that makes her?
