The Loss of Love
Saturday, February 11, 2012
We've all had, and have, friends that we love, that we really connect with. Ones that are just incredibly special to us.
I lost one of mine last night. He was in a motorcycle accident on Tuesday. I haven't been able to get a hold of family yet but through our circle of friends I have heard a car ran a light and hit him.
They did surgery and amputated his leg. Evidently his injuries were too substantial and his ventilator was removed last night.
I'm in shock. I think I always will be. My heart is broken, shattered.
Jay and I were close, close friends and will always have a huge place in my heart for him that can never be filled.
Please people, please, watch for us out there. Don't be in such a hurry that you run lights and hit innocent bikers. Watch when you turn left. We watch, we're hyper vigilant, more than you know.
Jay we love you and always will.

I don't ride myself, but I've been on enough of them I still give riders a lot of room even at stop lights. I've even been known to get in behind one if someone else is following them too closely.
Riders don't take up much visual space and we have to pay attention.
Teri-
I am so sorry . As bikers, we make very special friends- and when one gets injured or killed senselessly, it is very disturbing. People need to look out for us- and we need to make them see us.
I can only offer you that Jay isn't hurting anymore- and somewhere you and Jeff have a guardian angel.
Love to you and Jeff-
This was really tough to read, I'm so sorry to hear this. People need to be careful and vigilant for motorcyclists in order to avoid more tragic accidents like this, it's such a shame, such an unnecessary shame.
Rest in peace Ray. Here's hoping you and your husband both begin that mending process that comes with a shocking and unforgettable loss such as this as quickly as possible. :(
Oh, No! No, no, no.
I am so sad to read this terrible news.
I remember burying a guy like this — a great guy who was on a bike in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Blessings and Bear hugs for all!

thanks guys, there's not much that I can say right now.
So sorry to hear this Teri. I cannot imagine the pain and sorrow in your heart right now. My deepest sympathies to all. Sad. Very sad.
Sorry about your friend. I fear crashes when I'm not riding my scooter, but when I'm on it, i don't. Odd phenomenon I ponder..
I'm so sorry about your loss. I'm guilty of always being in a hurry when I drive. I will try to be more cautious.
Hugs & love,
Mimi
I am sorry Diva. I don't ride, but i try to put special emphasis on attention when there is a bike around. Bless you girl.
so sorry for the loss of your friend. May you find peace and comfort.
OH sweetie I am so sorry. And angry. As a woman whose family is filled with bikers, in a country where my neighbor helped rally the run for the wall for POW/MIA in Vietnam. I am surrounded by bikers. My sister runs low income housing and every Christmas until this year the BIKERS raised fund and bought toys to hold a party complete with Santa( they would bring my hubby in on a Harley) for every kid there. It angers me at the way people treat them, they are us period. We all bleed the same color period. My prayers and sympathy to your friends family and to yours.
I'm so sorry for your loss. I really hope you're taking care of yourself. You've had such a rough few weeks... this would be too much for anyone to handle!!
If there's anything I can do, let me know, and know I'm thinking about you!!
Plus, I'm always extra careful on the roads... especially when it comes to motorcycles!!
So sorry....this is the very reason why we don't ride anymore. Hugs to you!
So sorry for your lost. I use to ride myself I know how dangerous it can be. Please be careful out there. Blessings, Lynda
Stong hugs. I always give bikers wide berths as well as truckers. It's a respect thing. I know you and your husband are in shock. Prayers.
I'm so sorry for your loss. How unbelievably tragic and from the sounds of it, completely preventable.
I am so sorry for your loss, tragic!! People need to pay more attention and stop running lights where you are going is not worth another persons life.. Im so sorry!
I usually try to respond to everyone by email, but I can't gather my thoughts. Give me a few days please. Love you and thank you for the heartfelt comments. ♥ you all.
I am so sorry for you loss.
*HUGS*

I never had the privilege of meeting Jayman, but he left a gaping hole in the lives of several of my friends. My heart goes out to you Diva, and to all my other friends who lost someone so dear to them when Jayman died.
Ride In Peace Jayman, I hope to have the honor of riding with you someday.
Very sorry for your loss. It's so hard to read about these types of things. As someone who rides, it really shakes me up. My sympathies are with you.
Diva, dear, I am so very sorry you lost your friend. I'm a bicyclist, so they don't see me either. Of course, I'm not going as fast, and when things get too intense in the street, I can--and do--take to the sidewalk.
I am so sorry. Years back when my partner was knocked off his bike, he got to his feet in time to hear the woman on the phone to her husband saying 'I've hit ANOTHER motorcyclist, what should I do?'.
There are no words, but I am sorry just the same.
Hello. I ran across your blog while looking for a funny pic to say I love my motorcycle on this Valentines day! LOL Anyway, on the serious side, I saw this post and wanted to say I'm sorry for your loss. It's always hard when we loose fellow riders. The year has started out pretty rough (I'm in Houston, TX), we've lost a couple already! Be careful out there! Keep an eye on those cagers...

I am so sorry for your loss. I can relate to the trauma of this accident. While riding a motorcycle my mom was hit by a drunk driver and her arm was almost completely torn from her body. She was never able to do gymnastics again, which was one of her biggest passions. My heart truly goes out to you. You're brave for sharing such a personal trauma.
Diva, are you still looking for your goddamned earphones?
I am very sorry for this loss.
I am so sorry.
